The untimely passing of the late Fr. Angelo Silerio SJ, JHS Principal of the previous academic year was met with sigh of relief by the announcement from the University President, Fr. Roberto Exequiel Rivera S.J. to the university community of the Jesuit Philippine Provincial’s missioning to Naga City of two new Jesuits.
Former Ateneo de Naga University President Fr. Primitivo Viray SJ, now the head of all the Jesuits in the Philippines, recently missioned to Ateneo de Naga University Fr. Martin Licup SJ and Fr. Harvey Mateo SJ to take the reigns of the JHS central administration and spiritual needs of the whole community as Principal and Chaplain respectively.
In the memorandum to the university community, Fr. Rivera conveyed the order of the Father Provincial and the educational background of the newly missioned Jesuits.
“Fr. Martin will be the new Principal of the Junior High School, replacing Fr. Angelo Silerio SJ. Fr. Martin was ordained in 2017 and has served as Assistant Chaplain of the Philippine General Hospital Chaplaincy. He had taught in the de la Salle University before joining the Jesuits.”, Fr. Rivera said.
Fr. Rivera added furthermore, “Fr. Harvey Mateo SJ will be serving as Chaplain of the Junior High School. Fr. Harvey was also ordained in 2017. He is a physician, graduating from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine before entering the Society. He has served as Director of St. Isidore High School in Zamboanguita, Bukidnon.”
